Preserving History: Detailing a 1982 Chevrolet Camaro Pace Car
There’s something special about working on a piece of automotive history — especially when that piece is a 1982 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 Indy 500 Pace Car. With its bold graphics, heritage styling, and raw early-'80s attitude, this car represents more than just a ride — it’s a symbol of an era.
Our mission was simple: enhance its beauty while respecting its originality. This was not a full correction, but a preservation polish — carefully tailored to revive gloss and depth without compromising the factory paint, which is now over four decades old.
Paint Preservation & Waxing
We began with a gentle yet effective decontamination process to remove embedded grime and oxidation. Using a low-cut polish and soft finishing pads, we brought the original paint back to life — adding clarity, gloss, and that unmistakable vintage shimmer.
To seal and protect our work, we applied a high-quality wax, enhancing depth and shine while offering protection without compromising the originality of the finish.
Interior Detailing: Respecting the Classics
Inside, the iconic silver and blue interior received a delicate hand. Every surface was carefully cleaned and conditioned, from the dash to the door cards. We avoided harsh chemicals, opting instead for gentle, pH-balanced solutions to preserve the materials. The original upholstery and trim pieces were refreshed without being overdone — maintaining the factory feel while making everything look crisp and inviting.
Engine Bay Refresh
Under the hood, the engine bay was given a thorough yet sensitive detail. We removed years of dust and grime while protecting original decals and finishes. The result is a cleaner, more presentable engine compartment that still proudly wears its age.
